Mental Health Awareness

Real estate asks a lot of the people in it. Mental Health Awareness creates space for more conversation, more understanding, and more support around mental wellbeing in our industry. Awareness is not extra. It is the first step.

Why Awareness Matters

Awareness by the Numbers

Mental health is not a niche concern. The numbers, worldwide and at home, make clear why awareness belongs in the everyday conversation of every industry, including real estate.

General Occupational Stress Baselines

Mapped to the Realtor lifestyle

Against the specific lifestyle of an American Realtor, the baseline risk of clinical burnout accelerates dramatically.

  • A complete absence of structured workplace guardrails
  • 24/7 client expectations
  • Transaction anxiety
Prolonged Stress & Cognitive Performance

Stress doesn't just exhaust agents. It actively erodes the skills that make them effective.

A study published in the US Journal of Occupational Health Psychology revealed the literal business cost of this strain. It concluded that real estate professionals operating under prolonged, unmanaged stress experienced diminished cognitive function and increased emotional dysregulation. This directly sabotages an agent's core professional skill set by actively reducing their ability to negotiate effectively or maintain steady client relationships under pressure.

October | Depression Awareness & Mental Health Screening

Depression Awareness Month reminds us that depression is real, common, and treatable — and that checking in with yourself is a simple first step.

National Depression Screening Day encourages everyone to take a few minutes for a mental health self-screening. The PHQ-9 is a widely used, self-administered tool that helps you understand whether what you're feeling may be more than a hard stretch.

A screening tool is not a diagnosis. If your results concern you, talk with a healthcare provider or a licensed mental health professional.
